Trails designed for adventure, for all tastes

The Moto Guzzi V85

The Moto Guzzi V85 is a versatile motorcycle, ideal for those who like to get off the beaten track.

Reserved for license A holders, the Moto Guzzi V85 offers, with its engine capacity of 853cc, ideal power to face the winding roads of the Monts du Lyonnais without difficulty, even with a passenger on board. The bike delivers enough torque to ride comfortably, even on steep roads!

Perfect for long distances, the Moto Guzzi V85 is equipped with an ergonomic and generous seat, making every getaway enjoyable, even in pairs. Thanks to its relaxed driving position, it is ideal for trips lasting several hours, allowing the pilot and passenger to fully enjoy the landscape without feeling tired.

The Honda NX500

Recognized for its reliability and ease of handling, the Honda NX500 sees its lightweight chassis as a perfect asset. It is easy to handle, especially in the tight turns of the hills of Lyon. Its agility will be a real asset for winding roads, its voluntary and torquey engine clearly having something to do with it.

With its 17-liter tank, and a fuel-efficient engine (Honda announced 3.6 l/100km, we are more on 4 l/100 km while driving without asking questions about driving), the NX500 will allow you to go on long walks without going back and forth to the gas pump.

The versatility of the NX500 makes it ideal for a variety of trips, whether it's a city trip or a country getaway, and with enough comfort for an added passenger.

Good Motors Agency offers you this motorcycle for rent, even as a young A2 license, the simple certificate of success is enough for us, so think about it 😉

The Royal Enfield Himalayan

The Royal Enfield Himalayan is designed for adventure and tough terrain. This motorcycle will be perfect for the steep paths of Beaujolais or the trails of the Pilat Park. Its sturdy design allows it to withstand tough conditions, offering reassuring stability, even when the road becomes unpredictable. Easy to learn, the Himalayan is accessible to both beginners who have just obtained an A2 license and experienced motorcyclists.

Its maneuverability and smooth engine make it a great ally for duo rides, with enough power to carry a passenger effortlessly. Since the Himalayan is a single-cylinder, don't count on it to travel long distances on the highway, these engines don't like staying in a red zone for a long time!

Although it is not made for the highway, its off-road capabilities are very convincing, which makes it a perfect motorcycle for conquering heights and less frequented trails, alone or with others.

A neo-retro 125 for A1 licenses: the Yamaha XSR 125

You don't need a big cube to have fun! The Yamaha XSR 125 is directly accessible with an A1 license. Lightweight and maneuverable, the Yamaha XSR 125 is perfect for navigating the busy streets of downtown. Its small size allows you to easily get into traffic and find a parking space without difficulty.

Style: With its looks, the XSR 125 never goes unnoticed. It is an eye-catcher and adds a touch of style to every trip, why not use it?

Finally, its low consumption is perfect for daily trips or short getaways. It is an economical motorcycle that allows you to enjoy the road without worrying about fuel costs.

And if you are looking for a motorcycle to train for the A2 license, we have precisely written An article on this subject !

Ideas for cool roads to drive around Lyon

The Beaujolais wine route

How to get there:

From Lyon, take the D306 in the direction of Villefranche-sur-Saône. After about 30 km, you will arrive in the heart of Beaujolais.

What you will discover:

Beaujolais is not only new wine! It is a region with hilly landscapes, dotted with vineyards and golden stone villages.

  • Oingt: Ranked among the most beautiful villages in France, Oingt is a medieval jewel located about thirty km from Lyon. Perched on a hill, this village offers panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards and valleys. We advise you to make a short stop there, to stroll through its cobbled streets, visit the Romanesque church, then climb up to the tower for a 360 degree panorama that is worth a look.
  • Vaux-en-Beaujolais: Known under the name of Clochemerle, this village inspired the satirical novel by Gabriel Chevallier, of the same name. The Green Circuit, the pissotière (that's the name of the museum!) , the Place du Petit Tertre and the talking planters, clearly Vaux-en-Beaujolais deserves to stay there between two escapes!
  • Vineyards: Travel the winding roads lined with vineyards as far as the eye can see. Many wineries offer tastings. Do not hesitate to stop by the Château de Montmelas, or at the Domaine de la Madone to eat in the heart of the vineyard.

The Lyonnais mountains

How to get there:

From Lyon, take the D342 to Brignais, then the D30 to Mornant. The Monts du Lyonnais will gradually unfold in front of you.

The Monts du Lyonnais offer a real breath of fresh air just a few dozen kilometers from Lyon. Speaking of fresh air, we recommend that you wear appropriate clothing, the weather can quickly cool down at altitude, even in the middle of summer.

What you will discover:

  • Saint-Martin-en-Haut: This charming village perched at an altitude of 800 meters is the starting point for many hikes. Take the opportunity to visit the Romanesque church and take a break over a coffee on the village square.
  • Yzeron: With its lake and its outdoor activities, Yzeron is the ideal spot for a nature break. You can try fishing, pedal boating, or simply take it easy at the water's edge before getting back on the road.
  • The Signal de Saint-André: The highest point in the Monts du Lyonnais at 934 meters, it offers a breathtaking view of the Alps and the Pilat Massif on a clear day. A perfect spot for a picnic!

Pilat Natural Park

How to get there:

From Lyon, take the A7 to Givors, then follow the D1082 in the direction of Condrieu. From there, the doors of the Pilat Regional Natural Park open to you. A small detail before you enter the park, gas stations are becoming rare in the park: fill up before leaving!

What you will discover:

Pilat is a real paradise for lovers of nature and outdoor activities.

  • The Col de l'Oeillon: At an altitude of 1,233 meters, it is one of the highest points in the massif. The road to get there is a delight for any motorcyclist, with its hairpin bends and exceptional panoramas. At the top, you will be able to admire a breathtaking view of the Rhône Valley and, on a clear day, see Mont Blanc. However, beware of cyclists, many of whom climb the pass during the summer!
  • Malleval: This medieval village perched on the mountainside is a real treasure. Take the time to lose yourself in its narrow streets, visit the 11th and 17th century church and enjoy the surrounding calm.
  • Le Saut du Gier: An impressive waterfall in the heart of the forest. From the hamlet of La Scie du Bost, a short 30-minute hike will take you to this natural site where you can cool off and enjoy the landscape.

Activities:

  • Paragliding: If you want to leave the cow floor, Pilat is famous for its paragliding spots. Thrills and incredible landscapes guaranteed as you fly over the mountains!
  • Wildlife observation: The park is home to a rich biodiversity. With a bit of luck, you may see chamois, deer or birds of prey.
